  2. The first thing to do on losing registration certificate is to intimate the matter to the nearest police station where the loss has taken place. They will conduct a preliminary inquiry about the matter and a letter to this effect will be issued by them. With this letter you can go to an akshya kendra and file application online. After filing the online application take a print out of the application and submit it direct to the office where the vehicle is included ( enclose the police report also). They will issue a matter for publishing in a daily. Get it published in the daily and appear for a personal hearing after 30 days with a copy of the daily. The concerned officer will hear you and verify the genuineness of the application. If satisfied he will issue a duplicate registration certificate.
